Terms, privacy and refunds

Privacy notice

The app does not send us anything. Steading runs on your own computer. Your conversations, your notes, your files and your API keys are stored on your machine, encrypted by your operating system. We do not receive them, we cannot read them, and there is no account for them to belong to. (Subscribers can sign in on the website to see their licence key — that page is about billing only and holds nothing from the app.)

What that means in practice:

This website. The demo on the front page runs in the cloud so you can try Steading without installing anything. What you type there is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to produce an answer and is not stored by us. We count visitors to cap our own costs, and we store a one-way hash of your IP address for that count — never the address itself. No cookies, no tracking pixels, no advertising identifiers.

Payment. Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record. Your card details are entered on Paddle's systems and never reach us. We receive only what Paddle tells us: that a payment succeeded, and an identifier we use to issue your licence key. See Paddle's privacy notice.

Email. We do not run a mailing list for Steading and we do not send marketing email. Paddle sends you its own receipt.

Terms of service

Who you are dealing with. Steading is made and sold by SinYus, a sole proprietorship. You can reach us at any time at support@deskkit.app. Payment is taken by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record; the agreement for the software itself is with us.

What you get. Steading is a desktop application for Windows. The free version is a complete product: chat, memory, reading web pages and files, reminders, image understanding, one-click local model install, and answer provenance. It has no time limit, no message counter and needs no card.

What a subscription adds. $4.99 per month — or $49 for a year — adds watching video, image generation, encrypted transfer of your data to a second machine, and every capability released while your subscription is active.

What you keep if you stop. Everything released while you were paying, for as long as you own the machine. Ending a subscription does not switch off the app or take back a capability you already have; it only stops new ones from arriving. This is why a year is worth more than twelve months in a row: you are buying a year of capabilities permanently, not renting access to them.

What "watching video" means, precisely. Steading samples still frames from a video you pick and transcribes its speech, all on your own machine. It is not continuous viewing: it does not see motion between the frames it sampled, and it says so on every answer. We describe it this way here for the same reason the app says it out loud — a capability oversold is a refund waiting to happen. If you add your own API key, the same frames and transcript are read by a stronger model; the video itself still never leaves your machine.

If you stop paying, nothing locks. Steading never phones home to check your licence — it verifies a signed file on your own machine. When a subscription ends, the app keeps working and you keep every capability you already received. Only new ones stop arriving. We consider cutting someone off from their own data on their own computer to be the wrong thing to do, and the product is built so that we cannot.

Your licence key. It is shown to you immediately after payment, and you can get it back at any time from your subscription page — sign in with the key itself, or with Google if you paid with that address. There is no password to set and none to forget: the key is already proof of purchase, so asking you to invent a password would only add something else to lose.

⚠️ If you lose your key and did not pay with a Google address, reply to the receipt Paddle emailed you — that reference is enough for us to find you. We say this plainly because it is the one case the page above cannot solve on its own.

Your responsibilities. Do not resell or redistribute the licence key. Do not use Steading to break the law. If you connect a third-party AI provider with your own key, that provider's terms apply to what you send them.

No warranty for outcomes. Steading routes your question to a language model. Language models get things wrong, and small local ones invent details more often than large ones — we measure this and warn you in the app when a local vision model was used. Do not rely on any answer for medical, legal or financial decisions without checking it.

Changes. If we change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively move a capability from the free tier into the paid one; the free tier can only grow.

Refund policy

14 days, no questions asked. If Steading is not what you wanted, ask for a refund within 14 days of your payment and you will get one. You do not have to explain why.

After 14 days, you can cancel at any time and you will not be charged again. Because a subscription is billed monthly, cancelling stops the next payment; we do not refund part of a month that has already run.

Refunds are processed by Paddle, who took the payment. Contact us or use the link in the receipt Paddle emailed you.

Before you buy: the free version is the whole application and never expires. Download it first and see whether it earns a place on your machine.

Contact

Write to support@deskkit.app about anything: support, a refund, a bug, or a question before you buy. One address, read by a person — there is no ticket system and no chat robot.

If you have already paid, replying to the receipt Paddle emailed you reaches us too.
